About this Panel Discussion:

To maximize e-mobility's decarbonization impact and ensure the wider environmental sustainability of electric vehicles (EVs), a battery circular economy will be critical. This include both maximizing its battery life cycle through repurposing and remanufacturing, and recycling of expired EV batteries to prevent environmental impacts and reduce demand for primary extraction of critical minerals.

This community meeting explored the current state of play and key issues in the battery circular economy from both public policy and private sector perspectives. For recycling, there was a deeper look at the case of India, as its booming EV industry and developments in EV battery recycling and production provide useful insights on the challenges and opportunities for other emerging markets in the region.
